2024: 37 Motherwell St South Yarra
Open 10:00 to 5:00
Tucked away in a quiet suburban street in the heart of South Yarra this Classical Victorian Garden has been designed with a bold contemporary twist. Created by John Patrick Landscape Architects, the garden comprises of an eclectic planting scheme that mixes cottage perennials with bold architectural foliage and form.
Bold blue hues inspired from the South of France create a vibrant pop of colour in the garden, from the contemporary sculpture, proudly displayed in the front, to the side gate that leads you through to a private oasis at the rear, where a blue sun lounger awaits.
Mediterranean plantings of Agastache, Salvia, and Santolina create a tapestry of apricot, blue and yellow against verdant green hedges of Murraya and Buxus which provide a sense of formality to the garden.
Circular forms contrast with rectangular shapes throughout the garden design creating a juxtaposition between formal and casual spaces. A circular lawn and three metal planters, frame the rear garden, and provide a focal point from the terrace. Here the owner can indulge in long afternoon teas feeling immersed in nature.
Unique and bespoke, John Patrick (LA) has designed this garden to reflect the owner’s personality and love of plants, providing a sense of calm and respite from the hustle and bustle of inner-city life.
