2024: 38 Canning St North Melbourne
Open 10:00 to 5:00
38 Canning Street was designed in 2019 and completed in 2020. This project connects indoor and outdoor living. Upon entering, the lush boundary hedge creates an inviting green backdrop, enhancing the views from both the lounge and the upstairs master bedroom.
The client brief was to incorporate a small car parking area without compromising too much of the overall garden area, to include a barbecue and possibly some lawn for a dog.
In a small garden, we always endeavour to create 3 defined spaces. In this garden we feel this was achieved by providing an open space which could be used for off street parking or for a longer table to entertain guests, a barbecue and dining area and a relaxation area by the fire pit.
Given this is an inner-city property with neighbours close by it was important to us to make this space feel as private as possible. We feel this was achieved by the planting of the Syzygium australe boundary hedge and the Crepe Myrtle canopy.
The combination of Tall Fescue lawn and many evergreen plantings, ensures a vibrant green space all year-round. Seasonal delights are added with flowering Crepe Myrtles and beautiful perennials such as Salvia and Anemone’s, providing colour and interest throughout the year.
We hope you enjoy our garden, and it inspires you to see the potential in small spaces.
