Geelong Area

Ballarat Area

Visit the Ballarat Botanical Gardens – Gillies St North, North Ballarat.

Founded in 1858 and covering 40 hectares, the Ballarat Botanical Gardens has a collection of mature trees and marble statues set amongst colourful bedding displays.

The Ballarat Art Gallery 40 Lydiard Street N Ballarat Central

The Gallary is the oldest and largest regional gallery in Australia. Established in 1894 as the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, by the citizens of Ballarat, both the building and part of its collection is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register and by the National Trust of Victoria.   General entry is free.

The Ballarat Gold Museum , Bradshaw Street Ballarat

The Gold Museum is one of Australia’s largest regional, community museums. Owned and operated by The Sovereign Hill Museums Association, the Gold Museum extends the Sovereign Hill mining story, to include the social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region. More than just gold, the Gold Museum invites visitors to view its stunning collections through its permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Macedon Area

Kyneton Botanical Gardens 17A Mollison Street, Kyneton

Dating back to 1858 the Kyneton Botanic Gardens has large, magnificent specimen trees with 17 listed by the National Trust of Australia. It is one of the access points to the Campaspe River walk.

Budburst Wine Festival – 18 to 20 November

Budburst is a once-a-year opportunity to come behind the vines and meet the family owned and small batch makers that shape mainland Australia’s coolest wine region. Across the weekend, more than 30 Macedon Ranges winemakers will open their wineries and cellar doors from 10am to 5pm for unlimited tastings along with curated food menus championing local produce, art shows, sculptor walks and live music.

The three Budburst Blooms hubs are:

  • Piper Street Wine Company in Kyneton
