Sandra McMahon
Gardenscape Design was established in 1998 by Sandra McMahon, an award-winning Burnley graduate. Sandra has designed many gardens of varying size, ranging from acreage to intimate courtyard spaces. Her work has been featured on television, and in many publications, as well as having been opened to the public. Sandra also lectures in planting design at the Burnley Campus of the University of Melbourne.
She is above all a plantswoman, and her gardens are designed to achieve structure through plantings, not merely by means of hard-landscaping. She draws from a very broad plant palette and well-informed knowledge of plant requirements, skillfully creating planted gardens which are designed to be perfectly adapted to local conditions, as well as catering to the individual preferences of her clients.
Her gardens are frequently designed as ‘gardens of rooms’, with elements of mystery and surprise. Manipulating space is a challenge which she particularly enjoys. She has designed many ‘styles’ of garden, but the fundamental principles which guide her design remain constant.
Hard landscaping elements, such as walling, water features and paving, are designed creatively, with carefully chosen natural materials.
Sandra enjoys the process of listening carefully to her clients and creating truly distinctive gardens which, whilst respecting the individual needs and tastes of the client, offer the benefits of sound design and experience
All aspects of implementation and maintenance are catered for by this company.
