Two weekends of Garden DesignFest
This year we have an action packed day on Saturday 12 November. We will visit seven gardens in metropolitan Melbourne. Designers will include Jamie Clapham, Eugene Gilligan, Rick Eckersley, Dianne Beddison, Andrew Daniel, Sandra McMahon and Chelsea Garden Show winner, Philip Johnson. The tour departs from and returns to Federation Square in the Melbourne CBD.
On Sunday 13 November we stay closer to the inner city, with another seven wonderful gardens designed by Caroline Blackman, Robert Boyle, Richard Bellamo, Stephen Read, Paul Bangay, Lisa Ellis, and Mark Pedley,. This tour also departs from and returns to Federation Square.
An on-board gardening expert, morning and afternoon tea in iconic Melbourne parks, a boxed lunch in another well-chosen park are all included in the price; along with lots of fun and the joy of seeing so many wonderful gardens in one day!
On Sunday 13 November we also have our tour to the Mornington Peninsula again.
This tour heads down to the Mornington Peninsula, departing from and returning to Brighton Beach Station, about 20 minutes from Flinders St station. On the Peninsula, we will visit four gardens designed by Eugene Gilligan, Steve Taylor, Clive Abben (two properties) before arriving at Musk Creek Cottage, a large, magnificent garden designed by Rick Eckersley, where we will meander through the many different garden spaces, waterways and sculptures for nearly an hour – this is an amazing property! A catered lunch at 2 Macs Farm in Main Ridge, will be another highlight of this tour.
Victorian Country Gardens Weekend
Saturday 19 November
The second weekend of Garden Designfest takes us to the Euroa region, approximately two hours north east from the Melbourne CBD. There are four properties with large, spectacular gardens, designed by Rick Eckersley, Paul Bangay and Robert Boyle and the lovely Gail Van Rooyen garden, all within 30 minutes of each other. The tour departs from and returns to Federation Square. While this tour will be a relatively long day, these gardens are well worth the drive! Lunch will be provided by a local restaurant, on the verandah of one of these beautiful gardens, and afternoon tea on the lawns of our last garden on the tour.
Sunday 20 November
A new region to explore, the Macedon Ranges and Bendigo offers five properties, designed by Deborah Hambleton, Sue Meli, Roy Roberts and Lee Adams (two properties), with a boxed lunch in the Malmsbury Botanic Gardens. The annual Malmsbury Fayre will be in full swing in the Gardens while we are there, so we can join in the local community festival.
This tour departs from and returns to Southern Cross Station.
Garden entry for all gardens is included in the price of each tour. Garden Notes and the Garden DesignFest booklet are also provided on the day of your tour.
